The 100 Day Reality Challenge

Hi fellow Co-Creators,

I have been meditating this week, or my like trying to...I know from a few friends that it takes a while and some practise until one can quiet the mind. I was wondering though if any of you have advice for me on how to go about it. I mean I even start thinking about that I should stop thinking so much hahaha...

I would be grateful for any replies

I used a few Youtube videos on Meditation. It helped me get started. Also Lilou has one that is very good. I know that you are suppose to be quiet. The videos help you to unfocus on yourself and focus on the video voice only. I also close my eyes. I know its not required, however if I open my eyes, I see things in the room and my mind starts to think about how I should clean that table or clean that bookshelf. When your eyes are closed it unfocuses your attention on the things in the room.

Here are a few of Lilou's videos:

Thank you so much Jilly..I actually had to laugh because I saw myself sitting there and looking at my cluttered desk etc..as I read what you wrote. Have a sunshiny day!
Of course just as I was seeking for a little help I attracted it to me. Brandy ryan posted an awesome video today. Great voice and music and I really was able to get into the guided meditation thing!! Thanks again Brandy
As I am writing this I just thought of how Paul would have an amazing voice for a guided meditation!
UT-OH...did you say there was clutter on your desk. You need to unclutter that desk...lol...Hugs J
I know you are so right. You are going to laugh but because half of my desk is in the love/heart section of my room going by feng shui (just found that out yesterday) I moved absolutely all clutter to the left part of my table hahah...But I am on it :)
Hi Sunshine:

My advice is from a rather contrarian perspective.

Do not seek the quiet.
Seeking the quiet only makes you more aware that there is not quiet.

Instead, contemplate on an inspirational passage that you read before going into meditation

--or--

sing or chant a highly charged positive emotion like LOVE.....or....Beauty.......or.....God

Just forget about the silence and get busy contemplating or chanting.

Do either of these actions for the first half of your meditative practice, then next, focus on your breathing for the second half. Just listen to your breath in and out and feel the stillness within.

With continued practice I have no doubt that you will eventually manage to BE the quiet rather than being one who seeks it.

Namaste!

Hi Sunshine, one way to quiet your thoughts is to concentrate on your breathing, and start taking deeper breaths, you may also want to try a mantra, some people do this. I use to meditate but haven't in a long while, but i do know that concentration on breathing defineatly helps to quiet those thoughts because your are concentrating on watching your breath.
When I meditate, instead of concentrating on my breaths, I count & visualize the number, all the way through the breath. For example breathing in, 1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 ....I visualize the number (1) in my mind, and keep my mind on the number (1). Then breath out, 22222222222222222222222222222 and visualize the number (2) in my mind. Concentrating on the number.

Hope this helps :)
hi sunshine, thanks for the nice comment :)

until I heard that meditation is just a way to let go of resistance (thank-you abraham hicks!), I have really relaxed and started doing them more. not because I feel I have to, but because I want to. they can be a great way to raise your vibration. I was always so concerned with whether I was doing them wrong or letting too many thoughts in.... yiii! it was distressing. now when thoughts come up I just let them pass and smtms I focus on my breath, smtms not. you just really have to do what feels right for you. there is no 'right' way. now meditation is a sanctuary for me. I love it!

here are some meditations I really like. you can try them out and if you like them, great! these are all guided but you can meditate with just music and visualise whatever you want or not visualise. it's up to you
