The 100 Day Reality Challenge

This post is in response to a discussion Jilly and Steve M were having about whether or not we should ask the Universe for things that we "need" and whether the feeling of neediness create more lack.

I think the words need and needy have a lot of "bad" associations with them which make them seem to be a bad thing. The only "bad" thing about these words is that they invoke certain feelings in us that tend towards lack. Again every single word in language is a road-sign to a certain thing or emotion (or both). If someone was attacked by a dog their feelings differ from someone who's life was saved by one or by someone who just owns and loves one. The only thing that has changed in either case is the feelings associated with the word.

That being said it's safe to start with the argument, which I believe everyone will agree upon, that we really need nothing. Everything that is us is in this present moment and if you just sit still and pay attention you can merge with the moment and gain a sense of this understanding. Sure some may argue that we need food, water and shelter but this thinking, to me, defeats what we are all to learn about. Being connected to a greater field of energy that always and forever provides. So if we are always part of this field and we are always provided for (or always providing for ourselves since we are everything and everything is us) then what do we really need anyways?

We don't need that house because we already are that experience.
We don't need those new shoes because we have already walked many lifetimes in them.
We don't need food because we have already experienced starvation and gluttony.
We are pure everything and nothing and all that lies in-between.

So why manifest anything at all? Why even bother with this Law of Attraction stuff if we've done it all before? Because it's creation and we feel good when we create because that is when we align with the Universe the most.

I'll share a quick story to remind everyone of a similar story that we have all had to invoke the feeling that LOA gives us.

I was off to an Improv show with my cousin like we did many Saturday nights and we were working on manifesting a parking spot like usual. Since this was old hat and we were always given a spot we decided to do something different. We couldn't think of anything specific so we requested to the Universe "Could you please send us something weird?" When we pulled up to the parking that we always get we were pretty shocked to find that there was no spot for us to pull in. Knowing that this wasn't a big deal we pulled around to make another loop to find a spot. As we turned the corner we saw the weirdest thing we have ever seen in our lives. A young boy was tirelessly trying to shove a blow up spiderman, which was larger than the boy, into a mailbox. Shocked and laughing harder than we had ever laughed we looped around and found a parking spot directly in front of the door we needed to enter to go to the improv show.

I will never forget this story and with it's memory I will always know that the LOA works 100% of the time when we are open to it's alignment.

Peace, light and love!

Thanks for the clarification Steve. We should just remove this word from the language huh? :-)
I think Steve covered this pretty well, and you made some very valid points, however, manifesting is not an intellectual exercise. There's no point in trying to reason it out. Most people tend to attach anxiety to the word need and this is why the feeling that this word evokes is best avoided.
That's so true Trish. I think that a lot of us do practice LOA as an intellectual exercise at times which is why it can seem frustrating. Frustration only comes from the mind because the soul already knows what's in the works. :-)
WOW! I was just thinking of need and it's associations and feelings last night and in the morning so coming on here finding this is really cool! Beautifully written and the ending was fun to read. Thank you for an inspiring post.
I love when synchronisities happen like that. This is a magical website.
It really is. I love getting synchronicities like that also.:D
This is something that I read lately and wrote in another discussion regarding the "N" word.
Thought I would post it here as well for those of you that would like to ponder it.
~♥~Hugs Jilly~♥~Thanks Chris for starting this discussion~♥~

How can I possess anything? I am just waiting for the next owner, of what I have. Things come to me only when I need them and only for as long as I need them, and the way I know I need them is that I have them.
