The 100 Day Reality Challenge

I am trying to figure out why I am attracting negative experiences; for example the other day I was verbally attacked by a strange man, I mean crazy, shouting and swearing all because of my dog's poop which I bagged and tied and put it in the gutter as there were no bins around, all perfectly legal! I tried to explain, I was a responsible dog owner, that there was no harm done but I had to walk away as my dog was in guard mode and I didn't want to risk him taking a bite.
I was mad, I started to think..what did I do to attract that...

Can we really control situations and the way other people are with us? What might I have been thinking to attract this? I am sure I hadn't been thinking negatively, I had actually been feeling very happy and joyful until that point

My work contract was cancelled and I left in bad terms with my employer...this is a negative experience I can understand as I was working there and interacting with people and did have negative thoughts about it and I was thinking I would not be working there for much longer, but I can't see how I could have affected the crazy stranger...I was just going about my business!

Is it not that he was just having a bad day and I was in the wrong place at the wrong time?....or was I meant to be there to learn some sort of lesson.

I would love some feedback on this, if anyone can help,

Thanks Brandy, I agree, I think what happens is we can fall back into our old thinking patterns and this is the outcome, whether I like it or not lol!! Yip, the importance now is how much attention we are going to give a negative situation...10 secs sounds good to me

I believe that everything in out experience, we attract to ourselves in one way or another. The law of attraction, although powerful and meaningful, is not the only law that the universe uses to bring things to us. So, the way you are feeling currently isn't the only factor in what things come your way. Maybe that situation was brought to you by the law of deliberate intent. Possibly you are intending to have more patience, and what better way to gain patience than to practice being patient. Or maybe you are intending to have more tolerance or what have you.

Also, I believe that seemingly 'outside' experiences, reflect or magnify our 'inside' experience. If you were feeling a little guilty or unsure about the placement of your dog's poo, the universe could have picked up on that and matched you up with this experience.

And lastly, we carry our energy everywhere we go, there isn't 'walking the dog energy' and 'work energy' it is all one. So, if you are feeling bad about something that happened at work, or anywhere else, that could have attracted this situation to you as well.

But the best part is, you never have to live that experience again! You can start where you are and create better things, and then better things, and then even better things!
Hi Alison, I am new to the forum but have been studying the LOA for 2 years. I find it helpful not to over think some situations because some things we may not be able to figure out and it is really not that important in the big picture. The important thing is to not give any more attention to a situation like this than you feel you have to. Bless the people (not God bless them, YOU bless them) and go on with life affirming how good life is and focusing on the positive. I find that the more we try and figure some things out we are only placing more obstacles in our own path. One of Don Ruiz's Four Agreements is don't take things personal. Whoever this person is that made you feel that way should not affect you. If anything don't try and figure out why they did what they did or why you think you attracted it but rather try and figure out why YOU reacted to it. Affirm that you already have the life you desire as being an already existing fact and allow it to manifest in your life, never doubting and growing ion faith every day. Keep your mind clean of negative thoughts (which create our feelings) and you will soon notice life getting better. WHY? Because the ONLY enemies we have in reality are our own negative thoughts, because when we get rid of the negative thoughts and feelings all the negative situations will soon leave us forever. One of the major blocks I have found to growth is focusing on why others do what they do when the truth is the world is only mirroring what and who I AM. It's not what others do that affects me but how I react to it. Stop reacting to situations like that and soon you will stop attracting them. Focus on what you want more of and focus less on what you don't want. People only show us who we are.

We can only attract what we have in consciousness. Maybe there is something in your subconscious (negative prompters) that you expect situations like this that could attract it to you. Affirm everyday "I only attract good, healthy, loving and prosperous situations into my life everyday" or some affirmation of your own choosing and repeat it hundreds of times a day if necessary until your subconscious forgets the negative prompter and delivers the positive prompter.

Our subconscious minds are very powerful and will deliver proof of our deepest beliefs (from birth until now) so if we expect situations to happen (years of believing that) then the subconscious will show us proof of our conscious belief.

Be aware of your thoughts at all times and never allow/entertain a thought/belief/feeling that there is any truth that you attract/expect situations like that and once it becomes a belief with feeling you will stop attracting situations like that.

Thanks Chantella nd David, I really appreciate your feed back. It's great to hear others thoughts on how they are working with LOA and I can report I've not had any more incidents like that,thank goodness! any neg stuff that does come my way now I deal with it at the time and move on (no dwelling) and focus on the positive experiences I'm having. I used to over think situations, it never served me, didn't make me feel any better or wiser for that matter.

I know I am over a year late on this post as I am new here.

But I just  had to say that I love what David posted. How very helpful.

I am occasionaly faced with a very unpleasant family member whom for the time being I cannot avoid.

It is a great great challenge to overcome negative feelings with her. Especially since I have not been practicing this for years. What I have found with her, or anyone who seems to create a strong instant bad reaction, is to hear the thought that emerges.And turn it instantly into a positive.

I used to think that I shoudl wish her happiness and love etc, and maybe I shoudl but I could not feel the feelings, at least not yet. So instead, if I feel she's being cruel because she is jealous of my realtionship with her brother , because she has no love in her life whatsoever, I feel deep gratitude for the love I have in my life and for my great relationship.

And I walk away from any cruel remark from her as well.

Once I feel true, deep gratitude for things I have and love that she doesn't, then I slowly start to feel those things for her. And I'm sure in time I will really feel them for her. I'm still fairly new at this and she doesn know how to push all my buttons.  hahahaha   : D

I guess in a situation like you had with that guy being so miserable, i woudl just be grateful that was having a great day.He obviously wasn't!!!

Also when I leave the house, everyday, I feel good and use the affirmation:

This is a friednly universe and I am surrounded by kind, loving, fun and compassionate people.

I really feel it and my errands are always more pleasant when I do. Because I end up thanking the universe for each smile I get, etc....

When we feel a very negative thought, or a very positive thought, it doesn't have an immediate effect in the material world. So maybe a bad feeling felt at a previous time might have surfaced through the positive day. But like david said, it's so helpful to just forget why it happens. Because as more and more and more postive feelings are in our lives, less and less and less negative situations will occur.

 So it's been a while since you posted this initially Alison, and I was wondering how your life is going now after all this time.

You seem to have a very good perspective on how things work... I think life is more about positive and negative thinking and feelings than most people realize. I am at the point where I am AVOIDING like the plague NEWS websites as well as avoiding TV NEWS and negative programming..... and I DO feel and sense a difference in life BECAUSE of this.

Pretty amazing that many of life's issues can be dissolved by being positive.... but people have to realize KNOWING this does nothing... we have to practice BEING positive in thought, word and deed.... ALWAYS.

Oh David I so agree with you on the whole news thing.....There is nothing more soul destroying than watching the news....i go out of my way not to get emotionally involved with all that stuff. Because the bottom line is that you always end up hearing about the news anyways, so I find no reason to actually sit and read about it in detail.

Ironically I really made the firm decision not to watch the news at the time when the London riots occured a few months back.

And here in the UK, it was all over the tv, papers and obviously all people were talking about. I went out of my way to "ignore it". And my boyfriend couldnt understand it. I asked him to stop talking about it. When I did hear about the sad news unwillingly I would say internally "thank you for people being safe" over and over again.

Then as I turned the tv on one day, it was on the news channel, and I swear this time what I saw was the aftermath of the riots, but the positive side of it.

Even though some thugs had destroyed parts of town, there was a very large group of teens who decided to go and clean up the streets, and do everything they could to help out.

So there are the 2 sides. A few youngsters causing chaos, and loads of people from the community getting together and helping one another. But this latest aspect of it never seems to stick in people's minds.

Our brains are now programmed to search for negative...

Sad really. But as you said, our lives can really change once we direct ourselves to positive.

If I see a headline about a little child or a n animal being abused I immediately think about all the wonderful and happy children and animals who are loved and I say thank you and feel the gratitude. For each abused child there are thousands who are loved and happy . But those don't make the headlines.

And one more thing i woudl like to share . I get the daily quotes from the Hick's website, and just a few days ago there was this one, which seems appropriate for this post about negative people and how they affect us:

These beings, that are acting out in those ways that you find so awful, are tormented and suffering in ways that you will not understand. Their horrible acts are extensions of that pain. We also have to say to you—no one who is not a vibrational match to that could be their victim.

and this quote was harsh for me to read at first because then it woudl seem that when I am on the receiving end of a negative stranger, then I am on a similar frequency.BUT, that said , then it confirms to me that I can get myself to a higher and better positive frequency, which will attract more of those frequencies and the people that come with it.

Great post Celine. I love the quote from Abraham... You are right, we do have to go out of our way to avoid the negative AND if we do hear it at least see it differently in our mind... as most people find it is easier said than done.... but the rewards are worth it.
