I have now deleted the closed gay community group in favour of building this site up. I hope to get more people on here and shall be putting it out to the universe to attract like minded people.

Ive been writing a book at the moment of sexual identity. Being a counsellor I was hoping to work towards specialising in this area. Would like to hear more about how people view their sexual identity in todays society and what it means gay, bisexual, transgendered, lesbian, hermaphrodite. I for one dont believe that I was born gay, but respect that others may have been. Since the feminist movement the way we view masculinity and femininity has been challenged. This has in turn created new issues I feel today, as we seek to understand our role in society.
In New Zealand, homosexuality was only made legal the year I came out to my family at 16 years of age. At the time I questioned what coming out for me meant as I saw myself as being bisexual. Many of my friends challenged my identity stating I was confused, however I was more confused that I had sexual feeling towards both sexes yet emotionally attracted to men only. Through the years I have had meetings with people who vary in their own journey of self discovery. When working with clients with identity issues I acknowledge the sexual and emotional identity as being separate and view this as their reality. It is more confusing having someone deny and unacknowledge how you truly feel. I therefore call myself a gay bisexual, even though I have only been in relationships with men. This is seems, at times quite threatening to people who see themselves as being gay, as it appears to suggest that in order for this reality, women become a threat in a monogomous relationship, however I do not see this as being so. As much as someone who is committed to a relationship, need not act upon their desire for another who they may be attracted too. Of course their are also those who arent exclusive and negotiations in relationships are communicated, but are always at risk as any, to be broken.
Would hope to hear from others. But shall be putting more effort onto using this site. Thanks cocreators, and apologies for having to close down the other site. but hope this may bring about more positive energy out into our community.
