Hi Andie, I got my first astrology book. Sydney Omarr's day-by-day astrological guide for leo 2009. Do you have other recommendations? Thanks for your spirit. --namaste, jr

Hi JR,

I've been trying to think of books that I could suggest for you in relation to learning about Astrology. I've been studying Astrology for such a long time, that I don't really rely on books anymore and haven't in a very long time

The problem with Astrology books like the one that you mentioned is that they are based on Tropical Astrology and so as a forecast tool they will be inaccurate, because Sidereal Astrology and Tropical Astrology are almost a Full Sign Apart in calculation

The best thing to do at some point is to have a competent Astrologer do an Accurate birth chart and interpretation for you. Or go to Barnes and Noble to the section with the Astrology Books and flip through them and see what resonates with you...just keep in mind that any with horoscopes or based on the Tropical (Western) Astrology will be inaccurate from a predictive perspective but you can still learn alot about how Astrology works from them. I view Astrology as a way to transform our lives through mastering the lessons and activities that show up in our lives. The Birth Chart shows me the gifts that the person has come into the world with -- their assets and liabilities and the progressed charts (there are more than one type), show me the territory that they are travelling through now and gives me insight into the best course of action, but what it is really about is mastering our emotions and emotional responses, unblocking and releasing unresolved issues from the past and learning to create as opposed to react so that we can live our lives as our highest selves and become the Creators that God, the Universal Creator intended us to be. We always have choice, we always have free will.

The Book "How to Practice Vedic Astrology" A beginner's guide to casting your horoscope is a good one to start with (Sidereal Astrology is similar to Vedic Astrology with some cultural differences)

Have a great day!

Light and Love,
Andie
Andie, what a fascinating topic. Thank you for your fascinating response. I am more intrigued and informed by your response. I did some more reading on the subject. So, I guess I'll be returning my book and getting a verdic version. I wonder if this discussion we are having could go public. Maybe we could create a discussion on astrology in the book forum? You have helped make a out-of-sight topic become relevant and comprehensible.
