Judgment - The Root of All Suffering
My fascination with judgments began in June of 2008 while reading the book The Way of Mastery published by The Shanti Christo Foundation. Since then I have been examining and exploring judgments and how they affect my life, the lives of my clients and the co-creation process. This information opened me to a new found perspective, greater understanding and was the inspiration for the development of two new Source Energy Medicines. This exploration has unlocked greater potential for me to continue to heal my past and more intentionally co-create my future in a new, empowering, positive and exciting way and I want to share my experience with you.
I quickly realized that this material was the perfect basis for an empowering new book and began writing with a great deal of inspiration and excitement. I practice sitting and meditating before I write and in meditation I intuitively felt that this information holds unlimited potential to help billions of people and releasing it to the public now and not months from now felt urgent. This challenge inspired me to write this highly condensed article containing only the bare essential information, keeping it simple and as short as possible without compromising this powerful material. This article has enabled me to follow my intuition and share it now, openly with the world. The idea for the book has expanded in to a screenplay, for a feature film, that I am currently writing with my dear friend Coly Vulpiani.
At this time I can confidently say that judgment has been the root of every and all suffering, lack and limitation I have ever experienced in my life. That is a big statement and I want to emphasize it so I will state it again. Judgment has been the root of every and all suffering, lack and limitation I have ever experienced in my life.
From the start of this exploration I quickly realized that I was a judgment machine, making literally thousands of judgments a day. I saw no harm in making judgments and actually found them to give me the feeling of power. Retrospectively I see the feeling was actually an ego nourishing false sense of power. I thought judgment was how I would know what I do and do not want and how I would determine what was right from wrong, good from bad. I quickly came to realize that if I judged something as good I automatically judged the opposite as bad, even if I did not make that conscious conclusion.
Part of my fascination and inquiry into judgment came from witnessing that I as well as my clients kept testing to continue to take the judgment Source Energy Medicines even after taking them for several months. This was unusual and it seemed as if there was no end in sight. At first I thought it was due to the accumulation of a life time of judgment when in fact it was from the constant act of judging in my day to day life. I could not drink enough of the judgment remedies to help transform my current day judgments let alone begin to work on my past judgments and the devastating affects they have on my life. The fact of the matter is unless I do something to shift my awareness and behavior around judgments in my current day life I will continue to be stuck in a cycle of co-creating and manifesting my reality with more of what I do not want to experience.
Through a body awareness practice I witnessed that when I judged something it created the feeling of separation, guilt, shame, regret and contraction in my physical body. The following passage is from The Way of Mastery, “If you ever want to come home (my interpretation- to my true potential or to a Source or God realized life), you are going to have to become very, very Divinely selfish. You are going to have to become so selfish that you would not tolerate judgment in yourself or anyone or anything. Because you will begin to realize that every such act catapults you to the other side of the universe from where you want to be. Judgment causes the very cellular structure to break down. If you could see this you would never judge again. When you judge, even the cells of your body go crazy. They vibrate in a completely dissonant way, there is contraction. The fluids do not move through the cells and the nutrients do not become transported or delivered to the cells and the waste matter is not processed properly. Everything gets clogged up and there is dis-ease. Therefore, understand well that judgment is not something to take lightly.”
Another way of looking at your judgments is by looking at what you value and do not value. What are the things and situations on which you place value? To me true abundance is represented by balanced, ideal abundance of all things good, in every aspect of life - mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, relationships, career, creativity and self expression to name the most common aspects. Are you co-creating and manifesting what you value 100% of the time, in every aspect of your life? Or are you manifesting what you do not value or judge to be bad or not wanted in certain aspects of your life?
Everything is Neutral
The way out of judgment is to begin to practice seeing all events and things as neutral. Essentially everything is neutral. Not good or bad, right or wrong. Simply neutral. When I adopted this practice I noticed that my thoughts about events and things were never neutral. It is within the realm of my thoughts about events and things where the shift away from neutrality occurred. I quickly realized that my thoughts about things and events were always in the form of judgments. Judgments are about as far away from neutral as I could possibly get.
I have been exploring conscious co-creation for several years and in recent years I have been able to attract and manifest amazing abundance in the large majority of my life. I witnessed that the aspects that I judged as missing or lacking ideal abundance and therefore what I was “working on,” focusing a lot of my time, thought, energy and attention to, continued to be a challenge. In this case I was attracting and manifesting the exact opposite of what I wanted. Now I am able to see that it was through my judgments of the issue as good and another as bad that I set up a world of paradox through which I was stuck in a cycle of manifesting the opposite of what I wanted. I also became aware that my judgment of my life as not abundant in every aspect set the stage for struggle, confusion and perpetuation of the same pattern. When I consciously removed my judgments, both good and bad, and began to see all the events and things in every part of my life as neutral, huge shifts occurred, openings appeared, allowance began to flow resulting in greater over all abundance.
Communication is Creation
What are you committed to communicating? The Way of Mastery tells us, “Communication is an attempt to rest in communion with all of creation.” This is an important question to ask your self, to think about and to consciously decide upon. From my experience what you are committed to communicating should be in alignment with and support your personal goals and mission. Personally, I am committed to communicating unconditional love, forgiveness and non judgment.
It is important to note that there are many forms of communication beyond speaking, physical gestures and writing. Many of which are non verbal and more subtle like thoughts, feelings, beliefs and emotions. This is important because what I am communicating, even through subtle forms, will be radiated out to others whether I am consciously aware of it or not. People will sense these subtle forms of communication even if they are not highly sensitive individuals. Often what is communicated through these subtle forms of communication is far more impactful than what is actually being spoken. When you are talking with others I invite you to make a practice of bringing this awareness to your conversations and see what you experience. Ask what the other person is picking up on or reading in between the lines.
I like the metaphor illustrated in The Way of Mastery of our communication being like dropping a pebble in a still pond that creates a wave that is sent out to the edges of the pond only to return back to the center (the one who dropped the pebble). The quantum field is a made up of energy and pure potentiality, unaffected by time and space. We live in a completely interconnected universe. All of my communications, in each and every moment are radiated out to the ends of the universe and return to me as what I experience in my day to day life and affects every other living creature on this planet. This is the essence of the Law of Karma, The Law of Attraction, the co-creation process and how I experience them in my daily life. The question comes down to what are you committed to communicating? Peace or conflict? Love or fear? Abundance or scarcity? Unlimitedness or limit? Neutrality or judgment? Being kind or being right? The choice is yours.
When my communications, in all forms, are not in alignment with my commitment, resistance is created and discord manifests. My body is constricted, dis-ease is experienced and I radiate that out to others. Judgment is the most common way I become out of alignment with what I am committed to communicating. When my communications, in all forms, are in alignment with what I am committed to communicating, the cells in my body function normally and thrive. My body is relaxed and I am in a state of allowance. Abundance flows and that is what is radiated out to the world.
I found the process of determining what I am committed to communicating to be the easy part. A few weeks later I realized what I was experiencing in my day to day life was not completely in alignment with my commitment. Some times I was attracting things other than unconditional love, forgiveness and non judgment. Through my awareness practices I realized that what I am committed to communicating, what I think I am communicating and what I am actually communicating are not always in alignment. I developed the practice of checking in and asking myself the following question several times throughout each day. What am I actually communicating, on all levels, in this moment? I stated this earlier and believe it warrants repeating, what I am communicating, in each and every moment, is radiated out to the universe and returns to me as the manifestation of what I experience in my day to day life. Communication is creation. When ripples return to me that are other than ripples of my commitment it gives me the opportunity to reflect on what I possibly could have been communicating to create the affects that I am currently experiencing.
An Awareness Practice
There are those who believe we need to monitor our every thought and in my experience monitoring my thoughts drove me crazy. We all have far too many thoughts to monitor. How I am feeling at any given moment will act as an accurate barometer and reflect the general essence of my thoughts. How does my body feel? Loose, relaxed and peaceful or restricted, tense, tight and constricted? I find it very telling, helpful and empowering when I take the time and check in with myself and actually feel what I am experiencing. I do not judge the feeling, hide, repress or deny it, but simply feel it. I choose to be with it and consciously make a decision to either continue in that vein or choose again. Ultimately, to me, this is all about awareness and commitment. Each morning I consciously and deliberately commit to noticing what feelings I am experiencing as often as possible through out my day. I encourage you to adopt this practice and incorporate it into your daily co-creation process.
I have found that becoming aware of my feelings and being with them without judgment helps me to be more comfortable with them and the entire spectrum of emotions become more accessible. Most of my life my judgments of my emotions prevented me from truly feeling and experiencing many of them. Ultimately my judgments set up a protection system to protect my vulnerability and what is commonly referred to as my “golden child” or “vulnerable child.” While this was a great survival mechanism early in my life, I found it challenging and limiting as an adult and by removing my judgments around my feelings I became a more authentic and integrated person.
I have also adopted the practice of becoming aware of when I am making a judgment. When I find myself in judgment the first thing I do is to not judge the judgment or myself for making the judgment. Rather than judging, my way out is to consciously choose again. This is a simple awareness practice that will provide you with the opportunity to become consciously aware of your communications and make deliberate choices to either continue in that stream of thought or choose a different stream.
Neutrality, non judgment and unconditional love are the most powerful energies I can bring to each present moment. What I am focusing on and therefore communicating in each present moment is radiated out, lays the foundation and co-creates what I manifest and experience as my future.
Judgment is the source of all suffering in my life and forgiveness is the way out of suffering and the ideal energy to heal all judgment. From my experience, forgiveness is the most powerful healing energy to help us to heal our past and the stories about our past that we re-create every day and cling to as the truth of who we are.
When I become aware of myself in judgment of something in my present moment reality I silently say to myself, “isn’t that interesting?” I’m in judgment and I am going to choose again. I choose to see the event as neutral; I shift and become non judgmental about what is happening and I consciously and deliberately bring the energy of love to the situation. It’s as easy as that. I have found it to be a matter of reprogramming my automatic, unconscious, conditioned response of constant judgment.
When I become aware of myself in judgment of something from my past I also silently say to myself, “isn’t that interesting?” The feelings of guilt, regret and shame are often associated with judgments regarding the past. When I check in with myself and I am feeling guilt, regret or shame, it is the perfect indicator that I am judging something from my past. I consciously allow the feelings to be experienced without judgment. I then consciously make a decision to choose again by saying the following healing affirmation from The Way of Mastery -
I judge you not.
I extend forgiveness to myself for what I have created.
I embrace you. I love you. I free you to be yourself.
I bless you with the blessings of- (God, Christ, The Source of All Creation, My Higher Self, Universal Love- fill in the blank with what ever you feel is appropriate).
I believe it is important to point out that when we are practicing forgiveness we are working with consciousness and it is governed by the energetic realm explored in quantum physics. Forgiveness, like prayer, is not limited by time, space and the laws of the physical world. Forgiveness works even if the other party involved is not consciously aware of your intentions. And ultimately all forgiveness is forgiveness of self. This is especially true when it is believed that another has done you wrong. You certainly can forgive the other and I suggest spending more time extending forgiveness to yourself than the other. This is a tough part for many people to accept and often take on the role of a victim and choose it over the thought of forgiveness. If you have resistance to forgiving someone I suggest reading this section several times and consider seeking professional counseling.
Thomas asked Christ if he should forgive his neighbor seven times. Jesus knew from the teachings of the Essene and Jewish traditions of his day to forgive seven times seventy, or 490 times. Is there magic in forgiving exactly 490 times? Perhaps and my sense of the essence of the message is to devote a lot of time, focus and energy on forgiveness.
Adapted from The Way of Mastery -The question is- are you one who wants to know what peace is? Are you one interested in forgiveness? Are you one interested in wisdom? Are you one interested in judgment and the high that you feel in your body through the act of judgment as another being less than you? It is time to become honest with the effects of your co-creation. Bring the quality of childlike innocence to what you actually experience not what you tell everyone you are experiencing.
From The Way of Mastery - “The Doorway to Wisdom- Do not co-create unconsciously and just walk away. But learn ceaselessly from your co-creation. For in this way you begin the process of dissolving the co-creation of an un-enlightened being and begin to build the co-creation of an enlightened being here and now, in this moment.”
To summarize, I see judgment as the source of all suffering, lack and limitation and the energy that attracts and manifests the very things that I do not want. Neutrality, non judgment, unconditional love and forgiveness as the keys to balance, harmony, co-creating and manifesting an abundance of all things good in every aspect of my life. Developing an awareness practice is the key to consciously and deliberately co-creating an abundance of all things good in ever aspect of life.
I am excited that this is not a predeterministic universe and that we each get to choose what we experience. I know I can heal my past and believe I have the ability to create my future. From my perspective this is very empowering information. It is never too late to start to create as God creates and I believe this is the true reason why we are here on this planet. What kind of a future, what kind of reality do you want to create for yourself and for the world?
The Buddhists say, when conditions are sufficient things manifest. When conditions are no longer sufficient they no longer manifest. I have found the practice of awareness, non judgment and forgiveness to have unlimited potential and it has brought me more peace, clarity and connection to the Source of All Creation than I have ever experienced in my life. It has been empowering, uplifting, transformative and inspiring. Through my experience my heart tells me that non judgment and forgiveness have unlimited potential to heal the world creating positive shifts in global human consciousness and that is my personal mission. When one heals, that potential creates a ripple that is radiated out, is felt by all of humanity and plants seeds of possibility that wait for sufficient conditions to manifest. That potential increases exponentially with each additional person who heals and the seeds are then nurtured, watered and cultivated. At a certain point we will reach a level of critical mass, the conditions will be sufficient and we will co-create heaven on earth. Every living creature on this planet will benefit from the bounty of this harvest and will experience unlimited potential, abundance of all things good and true freedom.
“Knowledge becomes wisdom when it becomes your experience.”
- Yogi Bhajan
I encourage you to seek the wisdom in this information and experience it first hand. Many of us live in our heads and this is not a cognitive or intellectual practice. This is a practical, authentic way of choosing to live from the heart and experiencing perhaps for the first time ultimate freedom. The freedom to try something different than what you have become accustomed to and choose again. I recently had a conversation with a friend whose business had been slow for several months and out of no where and without doing anything different he suddenly received a lot of projects and had more work than he could comfortably handle. I congratulated him on this shift and his co-creation and he quickly commented that in two weeks it would go back to being very slow again. If you insist, I said. He commented that was not what he wanted and his twenty years of experience has proven this to be the pattern. I suggested that just because something has been a certain way for twenty years it doesn’t necessarily mean that it has to continue. From a place of neutrality, unconditional love and forgiveness, it is possible to consciously and deliberately live the life and co-create the world you have been dreaming of. Or perhaps for the first time you will allow yourself to dream these dreams. I think Thoreau would approve.
I find inspiration in the following passage from the book A Course of Love by Mari Perron and Dan Odegard- “When you think you can only go so far and no further in your acceptance of the truth of yourself as God created you, you are abdicating love to fear. You are perhaps making this world a better place but you are not abolishing it. In your acceptance of doing good works and being a good person, you are accepting ministry to those in hell rather than choosing heaven. You accept what you view as possible and reject what you perceive as impossible. You thus cling to the laws of man and reject the laws of God. You claim your human nature and reject your divine nature.”
I invite you to a 100 day co-creation experiment in awareness, non judgment, unconditional love and forgiveness. For the next 100 days I challenge you to commit to the work outlined above. Develop the awareness practices and notice when you are in judgment. Build the habit of consciously choosing again. Incorporate the forgiveness healing affirmation into your daily life and practice forgiving 490 times. Notice how the energy of both judgment and forgiveness make you feel. The ultimate proof will be when you see how this practice affects your relationships, co-creations and life experiences.
We have created a special community webpage on the 100 Day Reality Challenge site and invite you to visit and become part of our co-creation community. You can make comments, share your journey to inspire others, find inspiration, plant seeds and chat with other like-minded people. I wanted to keep this article short and this community page will enable me to post additional ideas, practices and helpful information on a regular basis. Please let me know what you want. I look forward to reading your comments.
