Berry Berry Blast Smoothie
December 11, 2008 · Filed Under Low Fat Smoothies, Raspberry Smoothies, Yogurt Smoothies · Comment

Berries are probably my favorite smoothie ingredients and this berry smoothie has a truckload of berries, and feel free to shove some boysenberries in here as well or substitute. You can’t go wrong combining berries in a berry smoothie.

* 1/2 cup raspberries
* 1/2 cup strawberries
* 1/2 blackberries
* 1 cup low-fat yogurt (some type of berry yogurt would be best, but plain is fine too)
* 1/4 cup low-fat milk or 1/2 cup fat-free milk
* 2 cups of ice

While this smoothie is heavy on berries doesn’t lack of great flavor variety. I haven’t tried it with boysenberry but I would love to hear about it. Let me know if you try it. Blend until smooth.

December 7, 2008 · Filed Under Apple Smoothies, Healthy Smoothies, Vegetable Smoothies · Comment

Winter is here and the cold season comes along for the ride. Help your immune system with this veggie smoothie. Fruits and vegetables help you stay healthy and this smoothie has both. An apple a day…

* 1 cup apple juice
* 1 cup of sliced apple (sweet tasting apples are better)
* 1/4 cup applesauce
* 1/2 cup sliced carrots
* 1/2 cup of cucumber (peeled and sliced)
* 2 cups of ice
* a dash of nutmeg or cinnamon (optional)

Blend this vegetable smoothie until smooth. Adding the nutmeg and cinnamon will give it great fragrance.

Okay, I realize creamy and blackberry don’t usually go together but that is what is all about, mixing flavors and textures that don’t always come to mind. This blackberry smoothie is worth the risk. Let me know how you like it.

* 2 cups of vanilla ice cream (a good start, yes?)
* 1 1/2 cups of frozen blackberries
* 1/2 cup of strawberries
* 1 cup milk
* 1/2 tsp lime juice (for a tart kick)
* dollop of whipped cream

Blend until you can’t wait and then add the whipped cream.

Thank you to Sonny Martin for this second smoothie recipe submission. This berry smoothie recipe focuses on a nice fusion of berries and one we have haven’t used before, the marionberry. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

Tropical Fruit Smoothie
October 19, 2008 · Filed Under Fruit Smoothies, Mango Smoothies · 1 Comment

Thank you to Sonny Martin for this delicious smoothie recipe. Inviting too many fruits to the smoothie party can sometimes be a problem, but this mix of fruits works very well. Don’t leave out the coconut cream, it really changes the flavor.

* ½ can pineapple in its own juice, including juice
* 1 cup of Papaya, peeled, seeded and coarsely chopped
* 1 mango, peeled, seeded and coarsely chopped
* 1 ripe banana, peeled and broken into chunks
* 2-3 tablespoons coconut cream (not milk)
* 2-3 tablespoons honey
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1 to 1½ cup plain yogurt (we prefer Mountain High brand)
* 1 to 1 ½ cup crushed ice

Blend all ingredients, except ice, in blender first set at medium and then at high. When smooth continue blending while pouring in 1 to 1½ cups crushed ice. Serves 4 to 6.

What’s almost as good as strawberries and cream? How about raspberries and cream. And what the heck, we’ll throw in some strawberries too.

* 1 cup low fat raspberry yogurt
* 1/2 whole milk (whole milk for creamy goodness or 2% for “dieting”)
* 1 cup frozen raspberries
* 3/4 cup frozen strawberries
* 2 cups of ice

Peachy Keen Smoothie
August 30, 2008 · Filed Under Low Fat Smoothies, Peach Smoothies, Yogurt Smoothies · Comment

As I’ve written before I am not a big fan of peaches. I just don’t care for the flavor of a peach. But I’ve been told I’m weird so I try to give the peach its due and include peach smoothie recipes. Here is a healthy recipe for a peach smoothie that I might even try one day.

* 2 cups of sliced peaches
* 1/2 cup of fat free milk (or 1/4 fat free milk and 1/4 soy milk)
* 1 cup lowfat peach yogurt
* 2 cups of ice
* Dash of nutmeg

Super Power Smoothie
August 20, 2008 · Filed Under Blueberry Smoothies, Yogurt Smoothies · Comment

This power smoothie recipe may not help you leap buildings in a single bound, but it will give you energy to start or finish the day strong.

* 1 banana, frozen (if possible) and sliced
* 1/2 cup orange juice
* 1/4 cup blueberries
* 1/3 cup vanilla yogurt
* 2-4 ice cubes

Blend for a few minutes; add more ice to thicken. You can use frozen blueberries, but fresh will add a bit more taste to the smoothie.
Banana Blackberry Smoothie
August 4, 2008 · Filed Under Fruit Smoothies, Low Fat Smoothies, Smoothie Recipes · 1 Comment

This recipe combines blackberries with bananas, but it would work equally well with any type of berry you have on hand.

* 1 medium banana, peeled
* 1/2 cup blackberries
* 1/2 cup non-fat vanilla yogurt
* 1/2 cup ice cubes

1. Place all four ingredients into the blender. Blend on high for about 15 seconds, or until it is creamy and smooth! Serve immediately.
Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie
July 26, 2008 · Filed Under Banana Smoothies, Protein Smoothie · Comment

This is a recipe that I use when its one of those hot days and im to lazy to make anything and I can’t think of anything cold to eat.

* 4-5 apple bananas (2-2 1/2 regular banana)
* 4 spoonfuls of peanut butter (creamy preferred) (or 2 spoonfuls if you have a big spoon)
* 1 can of sprite
* 7-15 pieces of ice (depending on how thick you want your smoothie)

You mix together the bananas, peanut butter, and sprite first. then when that is fully blended together you add in the ice. I like my smoothies more on the liquidy side so I put in less ice so its still smooth but you also have that crunch.
Super Simple Blueberry Smoothie
June 17, 2008 · Filed Under Blueberry Smoothies, Strawberry Smoothies · Comment

This delicious find is a great addition to the website. There aren’t enough blueberry smoothies on this site and adding a simple yet unique blueberry recipe will help. There aren’t any measurements, but most smoothie enthusiasts don’t follow them anyway. I’d go heavy on the blueberry and just a squirt of honey for starters.

* vanilla yogurt
* frozen banana
* frozen strawberries
* frozen blueberries
* honey
* soy milk

1) Add to your blender and mix and match to your tastes.
