Elimination Communication and Baby Language

Yesterday, Evan (my 7 week old) and I started what is being called "Elimination Communication." I have been amazingly good at listening to my son's communication with me since he was born and can tell when he needs what by the sounds and the body movements he makes. About Me:
My name is Katy Beth Twist-Harty. I have a home in Davie, Florida with my husband Phillip, our domestic short hair cat killer, our puppy standard piebald dachshund Champion (He passed away last April from a seizure), my foster dog mix breed shitzu/dachshund Gino who looks like a short and long Benji (He just got officially adopted by us February 2009), my young rescue black miniature dachshund Pain-in-our-Gluteus Maximus and my pet rock Pebble who lives in my Zen garden.

My husband and I are just delivered our first baby last Monday at home in our roman tub with a midwife. This was one of the most empowering experiences of my life. He was born 10/12/2009 at 4:37 am weighting 8 pounds 8 ounces, with a height of 21.5 inches long.

My husband works in recycling and is an ordained minister. I am the Grant Project Manager for a not-for-profit through Nova Southeastern University at the Fischler School of Education and Human Services located in North Miami Beach. I work under the National Institute for Educational Options and the Florida School Choice Resource Center. I run the USDOE’s Voluntary Public School Choice Grant with the Florida Department of Education at NSU for the past seven years.

We are in year three of funding of five million for five years with the focus of opening additional parent resource centers and expanding existing centers. These centers assist in educating parents on their school choice options, particularly in low performing areas. We are also charged with assisting the State with creating local, regional and state School Choice Parent Advisory Councils. I get paid to do what I love! It is an honor to work with such a wonderful and dynamic team. I hope I/we can do justice to the people we serve.

I plan on opening my own Montessori style charter high school within the next 6 years. The school will have the theme of leadership, social justice and global responsibility.

It is clear to me that knowledge is power and it is even more powerful when knowledge is shared.

Mahatma Gandhi once said, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.”

My Vision: To be in service… to realize divine love and awaken that divine love within others.

My Mission: To create a world in peaceful unity, where we are a source of empowerment for creation, creativity and unconditional love.

My personal contract: I am an insightful, inspirational and charismatic leader. I use these gifts to light up others!

*Have a happy appriciated work enviroment where I am able to be flexible with my son's needs.
*Master Baby Lanuage
*Master Ellumination Communication
*FInish all my graduate courses successfully to graduate in June
*Have my New Mommy Business up and running with partners
*Weigh less then 200 pounds (currently 211 - pre-pregnancy weight was 233 and I was 244 when Evan was born)
*Cut Credit Card debt by at least half
*Better communication with husband (less times of communication missunderstandings)
