on knowing god.

Someone once asked me if I was a woman of faith.  I said, “sometimes.”  Which was true.  I don’t think he really expected that or cared for my honesty.  I just hope he doesn’t think he should censor himself around me now.  People tend to do that when they feel you’re different from them.  I hope he doesn’t think I’m evil or lost either.  People also tend to believe that when you think differently from them.I haven’t intentionally sought god for years.  At least not in the traditional sense.  I…See More

Buddhism and the Law of Attraction.

One day at work a sweet woman gave me a card with a Buddhist meditation chant on and a website to find local Buddhist meetups on it. I don't know what compelled her to give the card to me and no one else in the room. I had been interested in the Buddhist path for quite some time now, listening to the teaching but never making a real commitment to the practice.I've always been spiritual, every since I was young child. I was raised Christian, but cut my ties with the church once I began to become…See More

"You get in life what you have the courage to ask for." -- Oprah

I haven't been doing a lot of asking lately, at least not the intentional kind. I have always had a difficult time with asking; asking for help, asking for change, asking for what I want. I've never been good at asking. I'm notoriously indecisive and a part of me can't help but feel selfish, feel like I should create whatever it is that I want or need with my own two hands.I think deep down I'm more afraid of not receiving what I've asked for. I can't be sad about receiving what I never asked…See More

About Me:
When she asked me what I wanted out of life — what made me happy — I replied, “I don’t know.” I lied, I just didn’t know how she would react to the honest answer.

I want to listen to Billie Holiday, while wearing Chanel. I want to live in a house, specifically a cottage on the lake, with my artwork and the artwork of my friends hanging proudly on the walls. I want a library filled with books, floor to celling. I want to read people my poetry. I want to feel connected to the world thorough my writing. I want to perform for the president and kings and queens. I want to make people feel not so alone anymore. I want to love, deeply. I want to go on midnight walks in the snow and hold hands. I want to learn, just for the sake of learning. I want to feel free and happy. I want children and I want to give them everything that their hearts desire. I want to see the world. I want to be with my family and I want to laugh until it hurts. I want to drink tea in the morning and knit in the afternoon. I want a garden where I can grow my vegetables. And I want kisses, lots of kisses.

Somehow, I don’t think this was the answer she was looking for. I don’t care about degrees, or salaries or a number on the scale. I just want happiness. Is that too much to ask for?

Currently, I'm a full time university student as well as a writer. I perform spoken word poetry locally.

I think I have an angel.

When I was interviewing for my current job, I met an older gentleman. It was raining outside and he was looking for somewhere to place his umbrella. I told him that he could sit it beside where I was sitting, in a nifty little space between the wall and the end of the table. He agreed, as long as I'd remind him that it was there. I promised to do my best. I knew that it was quite possible that I'd forget.

I had plenty of time to kill before my interview began. I decided to…

Some people believe that work can't be enjoyable, that if it's enjoyable it isn't work. I'm not one of those people. It is my belief that "work," that anything that you do in life, should be done from a place of love and passion. Honestly, I can't say I'm passionate about my day job. I go to work and the…
