I'm speaking from my own experience. I'm not too sure what you've come to know about this. A lot of times that I've experienced a failure and loss is because I quit while I was ahead. I'd get into something and thought that I had a chance to succeed at and I'd begin to get some traction in my chosen activity. I'd surprise myself with what I was capable of.
