How do I know whether my current emotion is pointing me upstream or downstream?
First of all, it really doesn’t matter whether your current emotion is taking you upstream or downstream because the process is the same no matter which direction you are pointing towards. The process is to find thoughts that bring you relief from wherever you are. For example, if you are angry, finding thoughts of frustration will bring you relief and thus move you downstream. And if you are depressed, finding thoughts of rage will bring you a feeling of relief and thus downstream.
OK, but how do I know whether this emotion I am feeling now is moving me in the right direction? The answer is how does it feel. You can be angry and it can feel bad and you can feel angry and it feels like relief. So, feelings are the indicator of direction. In other words, if you are feeling good and you look at something that makes you angry, anger will feel awful. The further you separate from who you really are, the worse it feels. In this case you are pointed upstream. But, if you are angry and it feels empowering and relieving, you are having thoughts that have brought you out of a powerless place like depression and are pointing you downstream. Here, you are closing the gap between who you are in this temporary moment and who you really are.
Honor the divinity of your emotions. They are not a punishment for being bad or unworthy is any way. The emotion are indicators and indicators only of where you are in relationship to who you have become and the way you feel tells you in which direction you are pointed. When you understand how to utilize these indicators and not judge them, your world will make much more sense and you will understand the power that you have over what manifests in your experience. Isn’t it nice to know that you have a way to recognize the future reality that you are creating?
There is nothing more important than paying attention to the way you feel!!!!
