13/100: Feeling Great & Compiling a Reading List & Nutrition/Fitness

April 30, 2008. Last day of April. I am ready to continue into May and look forward to fresh experiences and happy outlooks.

I have been compiling a reading list I want to take on soon:

I have been doing a lot of thinking about how we are destroying our environment, our bodies, our minds, our relationships. I have decided to do something about it. i would really like to use my bicycle more and try to use it to get to work.

Yesterday for two hours I sat for 2 hours on the hard floor of barnes and noble and read half of Skinny Bitch. It was pretty good. i was very moved by it. i would have probably finished the book but it was an hour before closing time and my legs were about to fall off from numbness. it hooked me because of the voice and humor, and kept me hooked. i do believe it is not the best diet/nutrition book out there by any means, but it was a good read. definitely affects how you see food and motivates you to think about what we put in our body and how we(mis)treat the body.

i have been seriously thinking about joining a gym and getting a personal trainer for several weeks now but i think i will wait until i start at IGT because they have an awesome gym and access to personal trainers. for free. so, might as well not spend the money i don't have.

But I am definitely becoming more aware of what i should be putting in my body for more energy and to feel better and which toxins to avoid, like...

coffee/caffiene/energy drinks
white (refined) sugar. why? they strip and bleach it. and i found out a lot about sugar substitutes. they are evil and have traces of arsenic, that's right. splenda. gross.

which sweeteners to use... i will compile notes soon but i do recommend you read it because there is a lot of useful information.

Also, I am more aware that I need to be doing at least 30 minutes of cardio 4 days a week. Yay! I am motivated and excited. I feel a lot more informed from reading and talking about nutrition. oh, that reminds me, i should get a box of green tea.

anyway, i feel like i finally have stuff to do and look forward to. it's an amazing feeling.
