Day 98/100, Season 1 - Birthday Blessings!

And now Day 98! It is a public holiday in Malaysia today because it is the King's birthday. Ironically, it's also my birthday!

• I had a really lovely day today. First of all, I got a few lovely birthday wishes on email, from my sister's family (who tried to call while I was asleep) and a couple of really close friends/cousins. Also, "he" called to wish me happy birthday and so did my parents. - I am grateful to have people in my life who care about me and love me.
• I had scheduled a tour of Pangkor Island which I had read online is one of the most beautiful islands on earth. I expected a private resort area where I could read my book while listening to the waves crashing so I went along to have the boat drop me off, thinking I could just relax on an exclusive beach. The trip was delayed slightly because it rained for a while, but then stopped and was resumed. On the boat ride there, I met 2 young ladies my age from KL who are also staying at the resort and got talking and asked if I wanted to join them on the tour. I agreed and boy was I glad. These 2 ladies are angels. The island was nothing like I imagined. There was no private beach space and it was like a little village full of local vendors - I knew I would be stared a lot more at the whole time if I attempted it on my own. We took a taxi tour around the island and did a little window shopping and a short walk on the beach. The girls are incredibly sweet and refused to take money from me for the taxi after it was all over, so I insisted on treating them to drinks at the hotel, where we relaxed over cocktails and had a great laugh getting to know each other better. I'm really glad I met them - I think they are the only 2 other single girls at the resort! We exchanged emails and promised to stay in touch and I look forward to meeting them again in the future! - I am grateful for the Universe for sending me such wonderful friends when I least expect it but most appreciate it. I am grateful for my two new friends, their kindness and their great company.
• In the evening, I treated myself to a spa treatment that included a scrub, massage and rose petal soak and it was wonderful! I also gave my masseuse a big tip which seemed to make her really happy. - I am grateful for the abundance of wealth I have that allows me to make more than I can spend.
• For dinner, I went to this bar on the resort that had live music and ordered some beer and a pizza - which was divine, but way too fatty! I ate half the pizza since it was so rich, but it tasted great! Then the girls who were singing came around and spoke to everyone. They ware very sweet young girls from the Phillipines and were very charming and entertaining. The bar started filling up just as I left, which was just as well as people were beginning to stare again! - I am grateful for having the opportunity to experience a quiet and pleasant birthday.

Happy Birthday for yesterday! Sounds like you met two wonderful ladies on your day trip. What a wonderful way to to spend your birthday!
It reminded me when I was travelling around Maylasia with my best friend. We went to an amazing island called The Perhentian Islands. We also saw and met Phillipino girls who sang and they were amazing singers and so friendly. I can really picture your trip to Maylasia:)
