Yesterday was actually a very tough one for staying present - ever second moment, it seemed my consciousness was getting pulled away by this inner voice or that. On the way home, I was determined to start refocusing myself however, so I started conscious breathing. In through the nose, out through the mouth (which I don't normally do, so it forced my to stay present), while keeping my mind quiet and counting the number of breaths. Normally I get distracted when I enter the house, but this time I held it, and as a result, I outdid myself - over 350 breaths without thought! By that point, my mind was so quiet it seemed like everything was happening slower than usual. It even felt like I was talking more slowly, and could hear what was said more completely. It ended up being a lovely evening.
