I returned to the gym a couple of months ago and have been attending between 3 and 6 times a week, usually doing some cardio and some light weights. At the same time I have been attending physical therapy and being treated by a chiropractor. My workouts were kind of easy as I had been feeling kind of down and it was more therapy than anything. Also, I had been trying to heal from two car accidents that had left parts of my back damaged.
So, long story short the therapy worked and I feel better than I have in YEARS. I am working out now with heavier weights and rapidly gaining muscle mass. I don't know how I had turned into a very frail weakling from having once been much stronger than average. Having two sons I was also able to avoid a lot of physical lifting and moving of objects, I just became lazier and lazier, and the lazier I got the flabbier my body was getting. No change in size but shocking change in consistency.
The first time I went back to the gym I was tired after doing just fifteen reps using a three pound weight. Just two months later I am doing all kinds of squats and gaining muscle mass. I am hoping that the mass will give me more strength to do what I need to do and also to help me to relax. I love the exhausted feeling I have after a very strenuous workout. I think it is very addictive and I am happy that I have caught the addiction again!
