Meditation: or... Stop paddling up stream, taking a leap of faith, letting go of the oars and floating downstream.
No Problem. Start! Like all things new, practice makes perfect. You have to do something everyday for six weeks for it to become a habit. Find a time- morning or night works best, find a place- calm, quiet, and peaceful to you, find some relaxing cd music- positive affirmation, chant, singing bowl, or AUM/OM, and use headphones. It's hard in the beginning to quiet your mind. Meditation CDs can help a lot. Focus on your breathing- Deep Breaths in-and-out your nose, then after a time, focus on your abdomen expanding and shrinking as you breathe as well. These two things work magic to quiet your mind. Having a very active imagination, I often picture myself in a dream state- at the beach, flying over the Himalayas, having all the people, resources, and spiritual support to be anything I want to be or do anything I want to do. I ask for what I want in this way. Near the end of my meditation, I feel very happy and smile. Lastly, before I open my eyes and become more conscious and alert, I release all to my Higher Power- I believe and trust that all will be taken care of and provided for me. This is letting go of the oars and going with the flow of the stream.
